For ISP
- You have a small company providing Internet access.
- You have a hosting provider.
- You have one or two uplinks.
- Your prices for additional IP addresses are high; or, you are running out of IP addresses.
- Besides, your budget doesn't allow you plunk down RIPE membership fees.
Get as many IP addresses as you need!
Why?
ISP clients like getting a broad range of services. You can sell the IP addresses you already have for a modest subscription fee or introduce a 'static public IP' option in your service package. With an external IP you are sure to get traffic increase which will result in profit from tariff plans on limited traffic basis.
Hosting
If you have enough hosting IP addresses, anyway, you will not have to route different https services to different TCP ports. It becomes possible to access every website without port indication: standard 443 port is used. Every virtual server gets an external address which will help increase (or start up) selling services like VPS or 'dedicate'.
They are probably not giving enough IP addresses at first, are they? Or, they are probably not giving enough later.
It is always possible to explain to RIPE NCC staff that you really need those IP addresses. Besides, the application form offers you planning the use of IP addresses for two next years. The general rule is that the number of IP addresses used right after the assignment should be minimum of the number planned for use after two years.
